Laura E Stringer
Laura E. Stringer, age 98 of Elmwood, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home.
Laura was born on November 25, 1909 in the Township of Eau Galle, Dunn County. She was the daughter of Paul and Emma (Moritz) Fuhrman and grew up in the Eau Galle community. Laura married Earl E. Stringer September 4, 1930 in Plum City. After marriage, they farmed in the Eau Galle area until 1953 when they moved to Elmwood, where she has resided the rest of her life. Laura has been a resident of the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home for the past 11 years.
Besides raising her family, Laura enjoyed knitting, reading, crocheting, cooking, canning and gardening. She had even won an award for one of her afghans. Laura was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Elmwood and the United Methodist Women.
Laura is survived by her three sons, Donald (Jan) of Kingston, OK, James of Spring Valley and Leon of Menomonie, two daughters, Violet (Henry) Leehe of Velpen, IN and Diane (Marvin) Gibson of Elmwood, one son-in-law, Laverne Seipel of Davis, CA, 28 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren, one sister Gladys Fuhrman of Elmwood, two brothers, Walter Fuhrman of Elmwood and Marvin (Jean) Fuhrman of Chisago City, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl in 1997, two daughters, Joyce Seipel and Carol Van, son-in-law, Gene Van and three grandchildren.
