Bud was the son of Emery and Ruth (Coaty) Kane. He was born and raised in the Town of Salem, Pierce County, rural Maiden Rock. He attended Foley rural school and Plum City High School. Bud married Lennis Grant January 24, 1945 in Spring Valley. After marriage they lived and farmed along with his father in the Town of Salem. Later, he also farmed along with his sons. In September 1987 they moved into the village of Plum City and he continued to farm until retiring in 2005.

Bud served on the Board of Directors of the TAD Hospital in Plum City and the Board of Directors of the Ellsworth Creamery. He also served as a member of the Salem Town Board, was a member of St. John’s Holy Name Society and was a member of the Plum City Lions Club.

Bud is survived by his wife Lennis, his children, Jerome (friend, Sonya Anderson) Kane of Maiden Rock, Kathy (Douglas) Biesterveld of Bloomer, Donald (Theresa) Kane of Plum City, Michael (Patricia) Kane of Maiden Rock, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, three sisters, Lucille Kane of Kaukauna, Dorothy Hosain of Sherwood, Audrey Cernohous of New Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Leona Eder and Georgia (Sr. Laura) Kane and two daughters-in-law, Kathy Kane and Sandra Kane.
