Dean R. Aamodt

Dean R. Aamodt

He is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. Dean R. Aamodt, age 71 of Menomonie, WI, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

Dean had a strong Faith and felt blessed by all that God had given him. His greatest blessing was his family and he held them closest to his heart. He loved being a husband, dad and papa. Watching his children and grandchildren’s activities was his favorite thing to do. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, cooking, gardening, carpentry, sports and going to the movies.

Dean was born February 27, 1946 in Baldwin, WI. He was the son of Russell and Sylva (Gunderson) Aamodt and grew up in the Spring Valley, WI area. Dean graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1964. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He also served in the U.S Army Reserves. Dean started his career with 3M in St. Paul, MN. He married Shelley L. Danielson June 23, 1975 in Custer, SD. After marriage, they made their home in Spring Valley. Dean then went to work for his father-in-law, Dale Danielson, at Oak-Dale Hardwood Products. In 1988 they moved to Menomonie. He eventually took over the family business and operated it until retirement. The last few years he enjoyed working for Korgers Decorating in Menomonie.

Dean is survived by his loving wife Shelley, two children, Eric of Hudson, WI and Siri (Andy) Benrud of Menomonie; five grandchildren, Haedyn and Kaeya Aamodt and Alexis, Allysa and Landon Benrud; his siblings, Steve (Ann) of Chippewa Falls, Jeri (Tom) Gavic of De Pere; his mother-in-law, Vivian Danielson of Menomonie; a sister-in-law, Lisa (Steve) Schneider of Burlington, as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, October 3, 2017 with Celebration of Life Service beginning at 7:00 PM at Oak Ridge Lutheran Brethren Church in Menomonie with Rev. Mike Shay officiating.
