Orville J. "Bud" Dahling

Orville J. “Bud” Dahling, age 78 of Siren, formerly of Red Wing, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.

Bud was born on April 25, 1939 in Red Wing, MN. He was the son of Henry and Frances (Pohl) Dahling. Bud grew up in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing High School. After high school, Bud worked for Ferrins Furniture Store in Red Wing. Bud married the love of his life, Barbara Howe on July 23, 1960 St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Wing. After marriage they lived in Red Wing where Bud worked for Siewert Construction and raised their family. Bud retired from his construction job in 1995 and moved to Siren. For the last year, Bud has been a resident of the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.

Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing and going on pontoon rides. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Bud was very talented with his woodworking projects and enjoyed making things from the ground up. Most of all, Bud loved spending time with family and friends.

Bud is survived by his wife of 57 years; Barb of Siren, one daughter; Lynn Dahling-Pittman of Arkansaw and daughter-in-law; Vicky Dahling of Red Wing, MN, two grandchildren; Amber and Austin, one brother; Richard (Julie) of Frederick, one sister; Caroline (Norbert) Kearns of Barnes, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son; Troy Dahling, son-in-law; Tony Pittman, one brother; Kermith and one sister; Doris Stickles.

Private family services will be held at a later date in Siren.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
