Jason M. Bates

Jason M. Bates, age 33 of Elmwood, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, November 1, 2018.

Jason was born on October 17, 1985 in Menomonie. He was the son of Tim and Lynette (Bauer) Bates. Jason grew up in Elmwood and graduated from Elmwood High School in 2004. After high school, Jason worked at several jobs including Anderson Windows in Menomonie and the Eau Galle Cheese factory in Durand. Jason’s passion in life was farming, especially working with cattle. Jason married Amanda Keenlyne on April 9, 2011 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Eau Galle. After marriage, they began their family and had two children, Lucas and Sydney.

Jason was always willing to help whenever he was called upon by farmer friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling and just being outdoors. Jason loved to take his kids out around the farm and spending time with them.

Jason is survived by his wife; Amanda, children; Lucas and Sydney, parents; Tim and Lynette, of Elmwood, siblings; Jenny (Mark) Wolf of Elmwood, Ryan (Alex) of Menomonie and Corey (friend Morgan) of Elmwood, nieces and nephews; Kendra, Logan and Brooke, many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Bernard and Marie Bates and maternal grandparents; Wilfred and Margaret Bauer.

Memorial Mass will be 10:30 AM Friday, November 9, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood with Rev. Amir Stanislaus officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Thursday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
