Bernice A. Brantner

Bernice A. Brantner age 90 of Eau Galle, formerly of Mondovi, died Saturday January, 19, 2019 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.

Bernice was born July 21, 1928 on the farm in the Township of Lima, rural Durand.  She was the daughter of August and Elenora (Weissinger) Hayden.  Bernice graduated from Sacred Heart High School -Lima, rural Durand.  She married Awald Brantner August 5, 1947 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima.  After marriage they made their home on the farm in Albany Township, where they farmed and raised their family. In 1971 they moved into Mondovi where Bernice helped her husband with their Beer Distributing Business. Bernice was active in her church at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rock Falls and later at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi.

Bernice loved doing craft work, gardening, playing games, cards, and doing puzzles.  She spent a lot of time babysitting her grandchildren.  Bernice especially like to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bernice is survived by her children, Shirley (John) Smith of Eau Galle; Sandy (Bernie) Weiss and Tom (Janet) both of Mondovi, Cindy (Glen) Grisim of Northfield, MN, Dawn (Jim) Ulwelling of Eau Claire, Jeff (Sue) of Prescott; 17 grandchildren, six step grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one step great grandson; one brother, Joseph (Marilyn) Hayden of Altoona.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Awald, three sons, Gary, David and Kevin, a daughter-in-law, Bridget Brantner, three sisters, Marion Prissel, Florence Fedie, Helen Bilderback, three brothers, Bill, Eddie and Jim Hayden.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday January 26, 2019 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle with Rev. John Schultz officiating.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery-Rock Falls.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to the time of the services at the church on Saturday.
