Agnes M. Dunbar

Agnes M. Dunbar, age 89 of Arkansaw, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.

Agnes was born on December 22, 1929 in Milwaukee. She was the daughter of Alfred and Mary Ballering. Agnes grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from West Milwaukee High School. Agnes married Archie Dunbar on December 17, 1949 in Milwaukee. After marriage, they lived in West Allis where they started and raised their family. Agnes worked for 25 years at the West Allis School District as a custodian and did daycare. After retiring, Agnes and Archie moved to Arkansaw in 1992, where they remained the rest of their lives.

Agnes enjoyed cooking, baking, bird watching and music. She spent many volunteer hours at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City. Agnes’ greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.

Agnes is survived by her husband of 69 years; Archie, children; Austin (Mary) of Watersmeet, MI, Gary of Brule, Vicki (Dennis) Micke of Appleton, Dale of Oshkosh, Jack (Wendy) of Palmyra and Nancy (Jeffrey) Knecht of Menomonie, nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three nieces; Mary (Frank) Farkas of Waukesha, Betty Keeler of Phoenix, AZ, Nancy (Dan) Peterson of Eau Claire, one nephew; Jim Keeler of Durand, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and eleven brothers and sisters.  

A Celebration of Life will be from 1:00PM – 3:00PM Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand. Burial will follow in the Arkansaw Memorial Cemetery in Arkansaw.
