Archie N. Dunbar, age 95 of Arkansaw, died Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.
Archie was born on February 20, 1924 in Arkansaw. He was the son of Austin and Nettie (Lamphere) Dunbar. Archie grew up in Arkansaw and graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1941. Shortly after graduating from high school, Archie moved to Milwaukee. Archie worked various jobs in Milwaukee including Harley Davidson, Babcock Wilcox and had a 38-year career at Pressed Steel Tank Company. Archie married Agnes Ballering on December 17, 1949 in Milwaukee. After marriage, they lived in West Allis where they started and raised their family. After retiring, Archie and Agnes moved to Arkansaw in 1992, where they remained the rest of their lives.
Archie enjoyed tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed taking care of his “20 acres”, spending time outdoors and tinkering in his shop. Archie loved spending time with his family.
Archie is survived by his children; Austin (Mary) of Watersmeet, MI, Gary of Brule, Vicki (Dennis) Micke of Appleton, Dale (Patti) of Oshkosh, Jack (Wendy) of Palmyra and Nancy (Jeffrey) Knecht of Menomonie, nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, three nieces; Mary (Frank) Farkas of Waukesha, Betty Keeler of Phoenix, AZ, Nancy (Dan) Peterson of Eau Claire, one nephew; Jim Keeler of Durand, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Agnes and one sister; Jane Keeler.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00AM-12:00PM Noon Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand. Burial will follow at the Arkansaw Memorial Cemetery in Arkansaw.
