Marie C Helmueller

Marie C. (Tschumperlin) Helmueller, age 98 of Plum City, died Monday, January 20, 2020 at The Seasons in Plum City with her family by her side.

Marie was born on January 29, 1921 in Plum City. She was the daughter of Joseph and Kate (Gilles) Tschumperlin. Marie grew up on the farm, attended country elementary school, St. John’s School and graduated from Plum City High School. After high school, Marie attended River Falls Teacher College. After graduating, she taught in rural schools for three years. Marie married Oliver Helmueller on September 23, 1943 at St. John Catholic Church in Plum City. After marriage, they farmed and raised their family.

When her children were older, Marie returned to teaching, teaching 17 years at the Plum City School District. She also served on the St. John’s Parish Council, St. John’s Parish Council of Catholic Women, Pierce County Board of Aging, a member of the Retired Educator’s Association and the Plum City American Legion Auxiliary.

Marie is survived by her children; Dan (Joyce) of Roberts, Jim (Nancy) of Pardeeville, Pat Pizzi of Menomonie, Alan of Willow, AK, Lois Hoffman of Menomonie, Rita (Rick) Robey of Hudson, Peter (Irene) of Maiden Rock, Adele (Barry) White of Plum City, 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one sister; Arlene Parsons of Plum City, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Oliver, two grandsons; Patrick Pizzi and Merton White, one son-in-law, Jerry Hoffman, three brothers; Irvin, Alfred and Ray Tschumperlin, three sisters; Clara Kannel, Isabel Larson, and Elvera Dahlen.

Memorial Mass will be 11:00AM Monday, January 27, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plum City with Rev. John Helmueller and Rev. John Affum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 10:00AM until the time of services at the church on Monday.

Memorials may be made in Marie’s name to the Plum City Library or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

    To the family of Marie, I always enjoyed the visits with Marie and Arlene when I came home to see my ma and dad. Even after they were gone I would stop and see Marie and see would say to go over and get Arlene so we all could have a good time visiting. she will be missed but now in the best hands.     Fred and I want to send our deepest sympathies to all of you. Marie was a very special and loving person. She always remembered who I was and I was so impressed by that. She will always have a special place in my heart. I regret that we are out of town and will not be able to attend her funeral but we will be there in spirit.
