Douglas G. Hurlburt age 70 of Durand, passed away on Friday March 6, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire surrounded by his family.

Doug was born October 25, 1949 in Durand.  He was the son of Bert and Florence (Berger) Hurlburt.  Doug grew up on the Maxville prairie and graduated from Durand High School.  He farmed with his family on the Maxville Prairie.  Doug married Nancy Wayne August 12, 1972 in Menomonie.  After marriage they made their home on the family farm. He also worked as an Assessor for Maxville and Canton Townships for 33 years.

Doug’s love of life and the farm were his inspiration.  Doug loved playing his guitar, which he learned to play by ear.  He loved spending time in the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening, flying his plane but most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. Doug’s lifelong disability didn’t hold him back from enjoying life.

Doug is survived by his wife Nancy, his children, Bill (Tatia) of Durand, Mandy Stark of Birnamwood, Waylon (Kate) of Madison, Marcy (Shannon) Hurlburt of Eau Claire;  eight grandchildren, Joselyn, Nataya, Kaylie, Olyvia, Mara, Kenzie, Brooklyn and Austin; one sister, LuAnn (Fred) Jones; two brothers, Ronald and Rodney (Pat); many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hurlburt and Doug’s Leader Dog, Ebenezer.

Doug’s wishes were to be cremated and have a private family interment at the Maxville Cemetery.
