Geraldine  Brantner

Geraldine Brantner, age 90 of Durand, died Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Atrium Care Center in Ellsworth.

Gerri was born on November 17, 1929 in Durand. She was the daughter of Allie M. and Clara (Schuh) Bauer. Gerri grew up in the Meridean and Lima areas and attended school in Meridean. Gerri married Clare T. Brantner on September 16, 1947 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima rural Durand. After marriage, they farmed and raised their family in the Town of Durand. Gerri worked several jobs over the years including Hunstinger Farms, William’s Locker Plant and Pepin County Nursing Services. She lived on the farm her entire life until her health forced her to move to the care center in Ellsworth.

Gerri enjoyed tending to her gardens, canning, baking and cooking. She was known for her horseradish, caramel popcorn at Christmas and her potato dumplings. Gerri liked to go dancing and playing cards. Most of all, Gerri loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gerri is survived by her children; Colleen (Allen) Anderson of Plum City, Greg (Julie) of Durand, Jeff (Sharon) of Arkansaw, Pam LaPean of Hudson, Lee of Durand, David (Lisa) of River Falls, Kevin of Rock Falls and Gary (Nicki) of Durand, 26 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, one sister; Mary (Brad) Sie of Mondovi, one brother; Allen (Connie) Bauer of Nelson several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded death her parents, husband; Clare, daughter-in-law; Leylon Brantner, son-in-law; Larry LaPean, two grandchildren; Ilene Brantner and Ryan Anderson and siblings; Norma Brion, Marge Weisenbeck, LaVern Bauer, Galen Bauer, Benny Bauer and Lola Glaus.

Funeral Mass will be held at a later date.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
