Joseph H. Schmidt July 14, 2021

Joseph H. Schmidt age 60 of Altoona, passed away Wednesday July 14, 2021, at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Joe was born February 11, 1961, in Minnesota. He was the son of Delwin H. and Marjorie (King) Schmidt and grew up in the Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire areas.

Due to early onset Dementia, Joe’s work career was cut short. Joe enjoyed fishing, watching hockey, football, food, beer, music and cooking. He had a passion for doing outdoor landscaping, copper wire and driftwood sculptures.

Joe is survived by his soulmate, Carol Ann Frank Solberg of Altoona; his mother, Marjorie Schmidt; five brothers, Dave (Jill), Dan (Sandy), Jeff, Gary, Greg (Meridith) Schmidt; one sister, Cathy (Wes) Van Nurden; a special niece, Christina (Paul) Leavell. Joe is further survived by, Harold (Linda) Frank, Neil (LouAnn) Frank, David Frank and Julie Frank.

He is preceded in death by his father, Delwin; Eugene and Evelyn Frank and Linda Frank Holden

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday July 20, 2021, at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie.

Deepest condolences to Carol Ann and the rest of Joe's family. Joe and I worked together at Polymer Technology for many years, where we shared a lot of laughs. I am so very sorry to learn of his passing.
