Kathryn E Stewart

Kathryn E Stewart

We are heartbroken to announce that Kathryn (Kathy) Edith Stewart (nee Pralle), 82, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister has passed away due to metastatic breast cancer.

Born on June 7, 1939 in Kankakee, Illinois, Kathy grew up in Sheboygan, WI. She married Lenard Stewart on January 6, 1960 and had two children Terri and Greg, before divorcing in 1982. She went on to start a career as a purchasing manager and retired from Stark Candy Company/NECCO in 2004. After retirement, she moved from Milwaukee to Menomonie, WI to be closer to her daughter and grandsons. She later purchased a second home in Sun City Center, FL to enjoy time in the community pool and away from the Wisconsin winters.

When asked what she would like to be remembered for she said, “Being good to people and that I really liked people.” Kathy was dedicated to her family. In fact, she attended nearly all of the high school sporting events of her children and grandchildren. As a sports lover, the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers games were always on her TV.

Known to talk to anyone, she would start a conversation anywhere and at any time. Kathy loved playing bridge, in part, because of her competitive nature but mostly because it was a social event with friends. Her home was filled with books and she frequently subscribed to book of the month clubs to feed her passion for reading.

She is survived by her daughter Terri Chastan (Mark), son Greg (Jenny Reinke), her two grandsons, Chris Chastan (Colette and Reagan, Eleanor and Conway) and Nick Chastan (Jeanne and Michael) as well as sister Edie Krizenesky (Glen) and brother Steve Pralle (Kathi). Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Shirley Doane Senior Center in Menomonie.

Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Menomonie, is serving the family.
