Rose (Rosemary) A. Phillips

Rose (Rosemary) Annelle Holt Phillips Age 68, of Elmwood passed away peacefully December 13, 2021 due to health complications at the Spring Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center with her three children and Hospice by her side.

Rose was born on April 11, 1953 in Amery, WI. She was the Daughter of Bernard & Elizabeth (Smith) Holt and grew up in Elmwood, where she remained the rest of her life. Rose attended the School District of Elmwood & graduated in 1971. Later that same year, she married her former husband Russ Phillips, they had three children & later divorced. Over the years, Rose worked as a CNA, cook, bartender & waitress. She always took much pride in her hair & makeup, which led her to attend Cosmetology school and was a Cosmetologist in Spring Valley for many years.

Rose loved doing ceramics, being on a bowling league & enjoying drive in movies in her earlier years. She liked to read, and loved her soap operas. She is by far best known for her amazing baking and cooking. She will forever be remembered for bringing her Mom’s red “traveling” casserole dish to families that lost loved ones, were sick, or in need. She especially loved to make desserts for people that helped her, when she wasn’t as able to get out and about.  She loved her Grandkids with her heart and soul. They all were her pride and joy in life. Her passion was to love and be loved.

Rose is survived by her three children, Renae (Rick) Stohr of Elmwood, Rusty Phillips of Menomonie, Rhonda (Mike) Hess of Elmwood; her brother, Jerry (Jayne) Holt of Cumberland; Grandchildren, Mitchell Stewart, Hailey Phillips, Sebastian Phillips, Tyler Holmes, Derik Holmes, Ryan Stewart, Rachel (Ryan) Schmidt; Great Grandson Braxton Stewart; Nephews,  Ryan Holt, Jeff (Ashley) Holt; Aunts, Carolyn Maves & Gloria Smith; an Uncle, Clark Holt; cousins, relatives, and many friends. Rose was adopted & was so blessed to find & get to know her half-sister, Kathy (Bill) Mccue of Cranford, NJ, and half-brother the late Mark Bonse of Stillwater, MN.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents Bernard & Elizabeth Holt, her life partner & companion Victor (Pat) aka Smiley Balk, her Maternal Grandparents Milton & Nellie Smith, Paternal Grandparents Albert & Nora Holt, along with loving Aunts and Uncles.

Her family would like to extend their appreciation to all those that helped and supported Rose and her family during her illness and passing… including the Spring Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center, Mayo Hospital Menomonie, St. Croix Hospice, family and friends. Special thank you to Michelle Corey for the constant love, support & outstanding bedside care in her final days, and last but not least Rhiel’s Funeral Home for all their help & compassion with planning her arrangement details.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday January 7, 2022 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Elmwood.  Burial will be at a later date in the Poplar Hill Cemetery, Township of Rock Elm rural Elmwood.
