Catherine A Powers

Catherine A. Powers, age 76 of Durand, died September 4, 2022 at Care Partners in Eau Claire. 

Catherine was born in Durand to Martin and Marian (Schuh) Powers.   Catherine grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School in 1964.  She later became a secretary for the Clerk of Courts and then for the Superintendent of Durand Unified Schools.  She held that position for over 25 years until she retired.  Catherine loved to volunteer at book sales with her sister Cleo at the LE Phillips Memorial Public Library.  She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Badgers and Packers.  Catherine also enjoyed coffee time with friends at McDonalds.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Marian Powers, her sister Cleo Powers and nephew Mark Heffernan.

Catherine is survived by one sister Ruth (Tom) Heffernan of DePere and two great nieces Keira Heffernan and Emelia Heffernan of DePere.

Memorials are preferred in Catherine’s name to the Mark Heffernan Scholarship Fund.

Memorial Mass will be 11:30AM Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at St Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Timothy Reither will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

    Ruth and family, I just saw Cathy's obit online. I have been with Dave in Rochester for two months so been out of touch.
    We had some great times with you gals many moons ago. Cleo and LaVonne living together and Connie at the popcorn stand outside of Noll's. I was so sorry to hear about Cathy's health issues and that she had passed.

    So sorry for your loss. I managed to see Catherine a few years ago at the care center. Before that, I knew she went to McDonalds for breakfast so surprised her one morning, along with her friends, and had a breakfast sandwich with them.

    I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Cathy. Sympathy to the family during this difficult time. I always enjoyed talking to her at McDonald's and when she worked for the School District office. I saw her and talked to her at church too.
