Thelma was born September 23, 1930, in Durand Wisconsin. She was the youngest daughter of August and Mary (Schlosser) Prissel.  Thelma grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School.  On November 17, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand, she married her brother Francis’s best friend, Charles Caturia. After their marriage she helped Charles (Chuck) on the farm in Arkansaw Wisconsin, while also caring for their home and their three daughters.

Between 1951 and 1957 they lived in Downsville and welcomed a fourth daughter.  In 1957 they moved to Menomonie, purchased a neighborhood grocery store on South Broadway and added 3 more daughters to their family (the little girls).  After closing the store in 1969, Thelma worked as a nurse’s aide at a local nursing home and at the University of Wisconsin, Stout in custodial services. Thelma also managed rental properties they owned in Menomonie and Florida.

Thelma and Chuck enjoyed playing cards with friends, especially cribbage.  They loved their hunting and fishing trips whether they were local, in Canada or Wyoming.  During their retirement they spent time at their lake front cabin in Polk County and winters in Largo Florida.  Chuck and Thelma were married for 54 years. After Chuck passed, Thelma took a trip of a lifetime with her church to see The Holy Land. In 2011, she relocated to the Milwaukee area to be closer to several of her daughters.  In 2002, Charles preceded Thelma in death.

Thelma is survived by her seven daughters, Barbara (Greg) Andrews of Hunt Valley, Maryland, Kathy (Al) Buyse of Sussex, Rosy (Bill) Rahoy of West Bend, Carol Caturia (Charles Rothermel) of Manheim, Pennsylvania, Mary (Jim) Fenske of North Canton, Ohio, Lk (Randy) Alfson of Waunakee, Diane (Dave) Chilinski of Milwaukee; 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
