Janice I. Fassbender

Janice I. Fassbender

Janice Irene (Waller) Fassbender was born on January 22, 1940 in Home Lake Township, Minnesota.  She was the youngest child of Ruben and Dorothy (Hall) Waller. She married Don Fassbender on July 27, 1960 and had five children.  She passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday evening, June 10, 2023 at Comforts of Home in Menomonie, WI.

She sold Avon for many years while her children were growing up.  She was known for her donuts and lefsa and was very personable and welcoming.  Our yard tended to be the house that all the neighbor kids came over to play in.  After the youngest was out of high school she traveled along with Don going from site to site for his work and would even be his secretary to help with the paperwork.  After Don retired, they lived in their 5th wheel camper year-round.  They would spend 5 months by Pelican Rapids, MN and 5 months in the southern part of Texas with a month driving time each way.  They loved the traveling and visiting friends and family as they never had to pack and they always slept in their own bed every night.

Janice is survived by her children Curt (Annie) Fassbender, Rod Fassbender, Dawn (Jeff) Herron, Lori Fassbender and John Fassbender (Sharon Timm); grandchildren Becky (Jamie) O’Neill, David (Bri) Fassbender, Miranda (Jeff Croes) Fassbender, Kelly (Bert) Stigen, Echo (Ben) Wright, Matt (Leah) Herron, Megan (Jon) Berry, and Cody Fassbender; great-grandchildren Dominic, Braden, Makayla, Cole, Caiden, Alex, Lexi, Jacek, Castiel, Blakely, Makenzie, Gwen, Will, Chloe, Nicole and many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don.

A Memorial service will be held August 19th, 2023, at the Twin Valley Community Center in Twin Valley, MN.  Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Flom Township, Minnesota.
