George L Danner
George L. Danner age 76 of Elmwood,
Died: Monday May 11, 2009 at his home in the Township of Weston, rural Elmwood.
George was born March 1, 1933 in West St. Paul, MN. He was the son of George H. and Frances (Dey) Danner and grew up in West St. Paul. George attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Elementary School and graduated from Concordia High School. He attended Concordia Jr. College for two years. George began working for Northwest Airlines until he was drafted into the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean War. George returned to West. St. Paul and married “the girl next door” Maureen Nolan and together raised five children. George continued his career as a pilot with Northwest Airlines until he retired in 1993. George and Maureen later divorced and in 1975 George married Margaret “Peg” Ekstrom and they have made their home in rural Elmwood.
George is survived by his wife, Peg; five children, Lynne (Al) Scott of Richfield, MN; Cheryl (Joe) Shmura of Stillwater, MN; Dave (HaiAu) Danner of Burnsville, MN; Kathy (Ron) Weiss of Seattle, WA; Tracy Danner of Eden Prairie, MN; nine grandchildren several great grandchildren; a step son Jeff (Lisa) Crist of Savage, MN; a sister, Carole Mahler of Wausau and several nieces, nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother John “Jack” Danner.
