Dorothy L. Steies age 94 of Menomonie,
Died: Friday May 15, 2009 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie.
Dorothy was born September 18, 1914 in Menomonie. She was the daughter of Fred and Violet (Mason) Newman and grew up mostly in Menomonie. Dorothy married Leo H. Steies on October 24, 1934 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie. In 1945 she and her husband moved to Tama, IA where they were in the hardware business with Carl and Betty Feist of Menomonie. Leo was in the real estate business after he sold the hardware store. Dorothy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church while in Tama. While she was in Tama, Dorothy was active in the Red Cross and a Hospital Volunteer until returning to Menomonie in 1986. While in Menomonie she was active with the Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Program. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, the P.C.C.W. and the Resurrection Choir at St. Joseph Catholic Church. For the past three years, Dorothy has been a resident of the Dunn County Health Care Center.
Dorothy is survived by three sisters, Loretta Tanberg of Spring Valley; Delores Moore of Durand; Ann Wagner of Menomonie; a sister-in-law, Rose Hall of Menomonie, many nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Leo, brothers-in-law, Merle Moore and Dale Tanberg.
