Rodney D Smith
Rodney Dwight Smith, age 72, of Durand WI, formerly of Pepin, died May 5th, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health System- Eau Claire surrounded by his family.
Rodney was born November 11th, 1951 in Mandan, North Dakota. He was the son of Roy and Githa (Klukadhl) Smith. Rodney was the youngest of 6 siblings. Rodney had a daughter from a relationship before he was enlisted in the Army Signal Corps. Later, Rodney was honorably discharged.
He later married Deborah Dickinson and had 3 more children. Rodney was a jack of all trades but found his place at Treasure Island Resort & Casino and retired after 20 years. Rodney had a firecracker spirit who loved to dance and could talk to anyone.
Rodney is survived by his ex-wife, Deborah Smith. His four children; Janice Goodhouse of Trail City, SD, Darla (Duane) Buerger of Brownsville, WI, Melissa (Rick) Meixner of Nelson, WI, and Kevin Smith of Pepin, WI. Rodney is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Rodney is also survived by one sister, Muriel Rasmussen.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Roy & Githa Smith, grandson Dillion Gipp, his brothers Willard (Claire), Keith (Rose), and his sisters Marlys (Rip), Glenys (Bob), Grace (Ray), brother-in-law, Dick, along with many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be 4:00PM Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the 3rd Base Bar in Pepin.
