Roger N Menting

Roger N Menting

Roger N. Menting, age 81, of Arkansaw, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the Durand Hospital.  His beloved wife and children were at his bedside.  Roger was born in Nelson on July 18, 1942 to the late Wilbert and Rose (Baader) Menting.

On July 1, 1961, Roger married Mary Lou Harm.  They were married for 62 years and had 5 children.

Roger’s first full time employment was with Northern States Tree Cutting service.  From there he went to work at Buster Tiffany, and then to the Durand Cooperative where he competently worked in several departments and was an essential employee for almost 50 years.

Roger loved to be outside and enjoyed hunting, fishing in every season, and planting a huge garden.  Many friends and family loved receiving the excess fruits and vegetables he was happy to share.  Roger was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.  After retiring, he took pleasure in taking trips throughout the US and Canada.  He also liked to spend time tinkering in his garage and around the yard.  Roger was warm-hearted and always had a greeting and a joke for anyone he encountered.

Roger will be missed by his wife, Mary Lou; children, Jackie Meunier, Jeff (Michelle) Menting, Janet (Neil) O’Connell, John (Kristine) Menting, and Joe (Shelia Johnson) Menting; grandchildren, Kristina (Gustavo), Elizabeth, Christopher (Kenzie), Cody, Jessica (Daniel), Samantha (Brandon), Danielle (Tyler), and Justin (Nina); 4 great grandchildren; and sibling, Joanne Orne; sisters-in-law, Veronica Menting and Christine Menting; as well as by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Junior and Darrell; his brother-in-law, Donald Orne; his daughter in law, Missy Menting, and his grandsons, Josh Meunier and Jimmy Byrne.

Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand with Pastor Dan Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Arkansaw Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00PM-7:00PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.
