Darlene P. “Dark” Bryan, age 84 of Durand, died Monday, June 3, 2024 at AdventHealth-Durand with her family by her side.

Darlene was born on June 22, 1939 on the family farm in the Town of Albany, rural Pepin County. She was the daughter of Leonhart “Leo” and Emma “Amy” (Bauer) Weiss. Darlene attended the Whiteblock School in the Town of Albany. She then started her career in nursing at the hospital in Durand, which is now AdventHealth. Dr. Richard Bryant asked her to come to work in his office, where she worked for 27 years before retiring. Darlene married Lyman L. Bryan on June 6, 1959 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rock Falls. After marriage they lived in Durand where they raised their family.

Darlene enjoyed bowling, camping, cooking and baking. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends.

Darlene is survived by her children, Cindy (Mark) Reinhardt and Todd (Angie), both of Durand, five grandchildren, Kayla, Klint, Hayley, Drew and Tegan, two great grandchildren, Harlen and Haisley, one brother, Larry Weiss of Milwaukee, sisters-in-law, Doris Weiss of Baldwin and Mary Lou Weiss of Durand, Elnora Pearson of Red Wing, MN and JoAnn Bryan of Barron, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyman, granddaughter Kendra Reinhardt and siblings Gilbert Weiss, Lorena “Lork” Brantner, Gerald Weiss, Vernon Weiss, Norman Weiss, Delores “Dolly” Bauer and Philip in infancy.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00AM Friday, June 14, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand with Rev. Emmanual Asamoah-Bekoe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00PM-7:00PM Thursday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

With her kind heart and warmth, she was always welcoming when I came over. Although she is gone now, she will always be in the great memories you have of her and she will always be in your heart.
