Mary was born on May 18th, 1934, in Ellsworth, WI. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Ida Close (Locke).  She grew up in Beldenville and attended Ellsworth High School, graduating in 1952.

On August 23, 1952, Mary married Gordon Hague at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth, WI.  Mary and Gordon were married for 59 years before his passing on April 2, 2011.

After high school, Mary worked as an administrative assistant at Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company in St. Paul, Minnesota. While she was raising her family, Mary worked several other jobs.

Mary was passionate about volunteering her time in various ways. She was a certified Faith Formation teacher, lector, cantor, and a member of the parish board at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Mound, WI for over 35 years. One of her favorite times of the year was when she could be the auctioneer for the fall festival at her church. Additionally, she served two terms as the DDCW Internal Chairman and President of Eau Claire Deanery. Mary loved the spotlight; she was very active in the Eau Claire community theater either by acting and singing or volunteering her time as an usher.

As an avid reader and with a love for children, Mary volunteered her time with the Head Start program in Chippewa Falls, WI, and would read to the children once a month.  She was active in her community with the Homemakers Group for many years.

Mary was a beloved matriarch for our family. She had a full and fair heart towards all. She will be greatly missed.

I think Dad only drank it since Gordie was drinking it. But Dad was kinda like Grandpa Hague about 5 teaspoon or cubes of sugar and milk in there coffee
