Wilbert C. Pichler

Wilbert C. Pichler age 94 of Durand, died Tuesday March 4, 2025, at Advent Health in Durand.

Wilbert was born June 24, 1930, in Durand.  He was the son of Carl and Elsie (Bauer) Pichler and grew up in the Town of Lima, rural Durand.  As a young man, Wilbert worked on the family farm and eventually took over the farm.  Wilbert met the love of his life, Violet LaPean, at the Prairie Inn in Durand.  They were married July 2, 1960, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima.  After marriage they lived on the home farm and raised their family.  Later, Wilbert worked for Bauer Built in Durand for several years.  Wilbert and Violet then purchased the Lone Pine Tavern and operated it for several years, and continued farming.

Wilbert enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, playing cards, yard games, slot machines, and having a beer with his family and friends.  But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Wilbert is survived by his five children, Lonnie (Cindy) of Appleton, Lorna (Matt) Nelson of Menomonie, Doug (Jolene) of Eau Claire, Valli (Robb) Sarasin of Boyceville and Corey (Deanna) of Elk Mound; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Violet, son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Brenda Pichler; two sisters, Doris Thompson and Beatrice Schuh; one brother, Jerry Pichler.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM Sunday March 9, 2025, at the Lone Pine Tavern, rural Mondovi.
