Carol M Danzinger

Carol M Danzinger

Carol M Karshbaum Danzinger, age 91, died Monday, June 16th, 2025, at her home at Welcome Home Assisted Living in Elmwood WI, with family by her side.

Carol was born December 17, 1933. She was the daughter of Richard and Ceceila (Bauer) Karshbaum.  She graduated from Holy Rosary Catholic School.  Carol married Ralph Danzinger on February 5, 1953, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. After marriage, they farmed side by side and raised their family in the Town of Canton, Rural Durand.  Over the years, Ralph and Carol hosted many farmers through the Latin American Farm Leadership program. They also welcomed unwed mothers, foster children, children from the Chicago Urban Assistance Program and foreign exchange students into their home.

Carol loved taking care of everyone and never would say an unkind word.  She was a member of Pepin County homemakers, a 4-H leader, a CCD teacher, served as Canton Town Clerk and a hospice volunteer.  Carol was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Lima; she served as a Sacristan and was a member of the PCCW.  She touched many lives.

In 1978 Carol went back to school and earned her associate degree. She graduated with a degree in Accounting from Chippewa Valley Technical Collage.  After graduation she worked for Ed Adams and G Sundstrom, specializing in farmers income tax until 1998. After retiring from income tax, she worked for Schlosser Lumber doing bookkeeping until she retired in 2001.

Once retired, she enjoyed family genealogy; she shared many of her discoveries and enjoyed receiving new ones. Carol loved traveling across the country and abroad with Ralph. They would square dance, play cards and play games. Her favorite card game was Golf; there weren’t many games she didn’t win. They taught their family how to have fun.

Carol’s family was her greatest pride.  Every year when summer was done, she hosted “back to school parties” for her grandchildren, creating many special memories.  She enjoyed cooking and baking and sharing with family.  Carol loved to read and work in her flower gardens; it was her quiet time.

She loved spending time and helping her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Carol is survived by her children; Daniel (Helen) of Durand, Susan (Steven) Ward of Durand, Sally (George) Hayden of Mondovi, Donald (Jackie) of Durand, James (Marcia) of Chippewa Falls, Joe (Lori) of Mondovi, Sam (Janet) of Durand, Molly (Charlie) Weisenbeck of Durand, 24 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.  One sister, Janice Middle of Durand, two brothers; John Karshbaum of Durand, Dick (Donna) Karshbaum of Durand, a special exchange student; Celine Bernard of France, close family friends; Kim Austell and family of St Paul, MN, and Paul Noll and family of Durand, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, one grandson; Christian Danzinger in infancy, two brothers; Ronald and Roger Karshbaum.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima in Durand. Rev. Emmanuel Asamoah~Bekoe will officiate. The burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday.

  6. Carolyn (Kothbauer) Peterson

Carol will forever be remembered in my mind as a wonderful 4-H leader. She held many meetings at her house and even had hay rides for our club. She encouraged us to do skits and sing songs for the talent shows. Her children were great helpers for the younger kids starting out. She definitely made an impact on so many of us in the Bear Creek 4-H club. My sympathy to her entire family. What an absolutely beautiful woman, inside and out.
