Fern C. Hartung Taylor, age 100 of Durand, died Saturday, July 4, 2009 at the Home Place Assisted Living in Durand.
Fern was born on January 20, 1909 in Rock Elm. She was the daughter of Perry and Amelia (Webber) Wheeler. Fern grew up in the Elmwood area and attended Elmwood High School. After school, Fern married Leo Hartung on August 13, 1929 at Sacred Heart Church in Elmwood. Fern and Leo owned and operated Hartung Oil for many years. Leo passed away in July of 1965. On February 24, 1968, Fern married Leo Taylor at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw. Fern has been a resident of the Home Place for three years.
Fern loved to play cards, traveling, her African Violets and spending time with family and friends.
Fern is survived by her two daughters, Virginia (Roger) Kallstrom of Durand and Carol Mulheron of Mishicot, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Gordon Wheeler, her husbands, Leo Hartung and Leo Taylor, one son William Hartung and one son-in-law, Ronald Mulheron, Jr.
