Joseph R Fedie Jr.

Joseph R Fedie Jr.

Joseph R. “Rosco” Fedie Jr., age 65 of Mondovi, died Thursday, January 8, 2026 at his home in rural Mondovi.

Joe was born on January 17, 1960 to Joseph R. and Florence (Hayden) Fedie Sr. Joe lived his whole life on the family farm in the Town of Albany in Pepin County. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Lima and graduated from Durand High School in 1978. After high school, Joe farmed on the family farm. In 1982, Joe bought the family farm from his parents. Joe married the love of his life, Jane (Metcalf) Goodrich on October 14, 1995 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima. Joe continued to farm until his health forced him to sell the farm in 2016.

Joe enjoyed spending time outdoors, playing softball, hunting, spending time at the cabin and tangling fishing lines up north. He also liked bowling and shooting pool. Joe lived selflessly, always putting others before himself and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Most of all, Joe loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jane, stepdaughter, Amber (Lance) Bauer of Durand, grandchildren, Emma, Lennox and Brixon, sisters, Dorothy Pronschinske of Waumandee, Mary Schmidtknecht of Mondovi, Judy (Tom Sr.) Weiss of Eau Claire, JoAnne (Mitch) Doverspike of Stoughton and Sharon (Rick) Pickering of Mondovi, brother-in-law, Mark Pronschinske of Arcadia, close nephew, Tom (Laurie) Weiss Jr. of Mondovi, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Florence, sisters, Connie (Julian) King, Shirley Pronschinske, Ruth (David) Prissel, brothers-in-law, Rudy Pronschinske and Bernie Schmidtknecht and three nephews, Jared Pickering, Greg Schmidtknecht and George Oberding.

Funeral Mass will be 11:30AM Friday, January 16, 2026 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima with Rev. Sam McCarty officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00PM-7:00PM Thursday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
