Lori Barney
Lori Barney was born August 20, 1966, and passed away December 31, 2025, at Safe Haven in Boyceville where she had lived since 2016.
Lori was raised in foster care by her loving parents Gerald and Marlys (Styer) Lausted and her younger siblings Heidi and Christopher. At age 33 she moved into adult Family Care managed by the former ARC of Dunn County.
Lori attended Codington Elementary School and Menomonie High and completed her education when her sister, Heidi, and their German exchange student, Susanne Kania graduated. Along the way she learned to swim and fish and camped and travelled with her family. With the ARC she danced at proms, sang at Camp Randall and with the Joyful Noice Choir, took bus trips to Dollywood, the Corn Palace, Mackinac Island and more. With her brother and parents, she flew to Disney World and with her sister she enjoyed boating, fishing and tubing on Otter Tail and Spider Lakes.
Lori was a valued employee of Indianhead Enterprises and faithfully worked there from 1988 to 2016 when ill health forced her retirement.
The family thanks Denise, Tera and Staff at Safe Haven for their love and compassionate care. Special thanks to Blake, Brielle, and Addie, and all the children and pets who visited her. She loved each of you. Thanks also to St. Croix Hospice. Your kindness and attention in her time of need will always be remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rhiel Funeral Home on Saturday, February 14, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a service at 11:00 a.m. Luncheon will be served following the service. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
We wish to thank Rhiel Funeral Home for their assistance.
