ElDonna J. Wittig age72 of Durand, died Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.
ElDonna was born on March 24, 1937 in rural Alma. She was the daughter of Ervin and Minnie (Harris) Wenger and grew up in the Alma area and graduated from the Alma High School. After high school, ElDonna worked at the St. Elizabeth Hospital and a small boutique in Wabasha, MN for several years. ElDonna married Bob Wittig December 6, 1969 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Alma. After marriage, they moved to the Wittig family farm in Durand where she raised her family and remained the rest of her life.
ElDonna loved to shop, talk on the phone to her friends and was very particular at keeping the farm yard mowed and looking nice. She loved to go to football and basketball games and attended all the area fairs and parades but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
ElDonna is survived by her husband of 39 years, Bob, one son David Wittig of Durand, one grandson, Kegan Wittig of Durand, two sisters, Joyce (Dennis) Hart of Stewartville, MN and Bev (Durwood) Stevens of Pepin and one brother LaVal (Betty) Wenger of Minneapolis, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Bercie Ruff, Delores Hopp and Eunice Hartley and one brother LaVern Wenger.
