Lois Von Holtum

Lois Von Holtum age 78 of Plum City,

Died: Thursday at the River Falls Area Hospital in River Falls from Lung Cancer.

Lois was born August 24, 1930 in Rock Valley, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and May Evaline (Egglund) Skelly. She grew up in Canton, S.D. After graduating from nursing school she was employed with the American Red Cross for one year then worked on the Polio ward during the Polio epidemic. She worked for the Indian Service and traveled throughout the United States.

Lois married Lawrence Von Holtum in 1954 and they moved to Plum City. Lois worked at the Plum City Hospital before becoming Director of Public Health for Pepin County. She retired in 1990; Lois then worked as the head nurse of a retirement community in Red Wing, MN. She was active in American Red Cross and received recognition for 17 plus years of service and she was active in St. John’s Catholic Church in Plum City. Lois enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

Lois is survived by her husband, Lawrence; her five children; Jeffrey (Kelly) of Plum City; Janice (Randy) Johnson of Ellsworth; Jill Von Holtum of St. Paul, MN; Meg (Tom) McCollister of Waterford, MI; and Laurel (Mark) Mugg of Fort Wayne, IN; nine grandchildren, Jessica (Rick), Shannon, Whitney, John, Michael, Lance, Matthew, Heather and Jeffrey; one great grandson, Jack; her step brother, Bill; step sisters, Mary, Catherine and Betty.

She is preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Ann and brothers, Donald and Leo Skelly.
