John C "Chet" Werner
John C. “Chet” Werner age 90, formerly of Elk Mound
Died: Sunday August 16, 2009 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie.
John was born July 10, 1919 in Menomonie, the son of John and Elizabeth (Peters) Werner. He grew up in rural Menomonie on the family farm. As a young man he farmed with his parents for several years. John married Betty Feyen June 12, 1947. After marriage they spent most to their married life in rural Elk Mound where they raised their seven children. John worked for the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad for approximately 35 years, retiring in 1980. For the past six years, John has been a resident of the Dunn County Health Care Center.
John is survived by three sons, Jerry (Arlene) of New York; Tom (Mariceli) and Larry, both of Eau Claire, four daughters, Barb (Chuck) Cramer, Kathy (Jim) Schmidt both of Eau Claire, Sharon Werner of California and Susan (Anthony) Herr of Prescott, 15 grandchildren, 6 ½ great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, March5, 2009; two brothers, Herbert and Milton; two sisters, Maybelle Thibado and Elsie Springer.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Dunn County Health Care Center for the wonderful care given to our father these past few years.
