Rozella E Olson
Rozella E. Olson age 92 of Menomonie,
Died: Saturday September 26, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family.
Rozella was born March 16, 1917 in the Township of Sherman, Dunn County. She was the daughter of Mathew W. and Ella Josephine (Schutts) Schill and grew up in Dunn County. Rozella graduated from Menomonie High School and attended Dunn County Normal. Rozella began her 45 year teaching career in one room elementary schools at Dunnville and went on to teach at other various locations in Dunn Co. Rozella married Alvin Otis Olson August 10, 1940. Besides one room schools, Rozella also taught in Elk Mound, St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Menomonie, and finished her teaching career with 24 years teaching in Boyceville.
Rozella was a member of Phi Beta Kappa; Past President of the Retired Teachers Assoc. and Past President of St. Joseph’s P.C.C.W., several card clubs and volunteered for the American Red Cross and at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and several of it’s organizations.
Rozella is survived by her children; Judy Haugerud of Hudson and her children, Robert A. (Pam) of Osceola; Stacey (Travis) Vissers of Green Bay; Sara (Scott) Vipond of White Bear Lake, MN; Carol (James) Knops of Menomonie and their children, Christine Knops of Asheville, NC; Theresa Knops of Portland, OR; Gregory (Raquel) of Madison; David (Diane) Olson of Menomonie and their children, Capt. Matthew U.S.A.F. of Ogden, UT; Weston of Huntington Beach, CA; Braddon of Menomonie; James (Laurie) Olson of River Falls and their children, Michael and James Jr. both of Eau Claire; 12 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren, her extended family and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother in infancy, her husband Alvin in 1974.
