Paul L King
Paul L. King, age 89 of Stockholm, died Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Kinnic Long Term Care in River Falls.
Paul was born on January 18, 1920 Sanish, ND. He was the son of Francis and Christine (Erickson) King. Paul graduated from the Ross High School in 1938. After high school, Paul joined the CCC Camp in Medicine Lake; MT. Paul married Ethel Hartung on July 24, 1944 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw. After marriage, they lived on the home farm in Arkansaw for several years before moving to Mondovi in 1952 and then Stockholm in 1959, where he was known as “The Chairman.” They farmed until 1965 and he worked with Meyer Industries from 1965 until retiring in 1981. In 1998, they moved to Pepin.
Paul enjoyed playing cards, and fishing with his grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ethel, six children, Paul King Jr. of Stockholm, Jean (Dean) Campbell of River Falls, Mary (Bill) Saylor of Nowthen, MN, Cheryl (Stan) Swenson of Lund, Gail (Mark) Kircher of Pepin and JoAnn Winger of Red Wing, MN, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Bernard King and two sisters, Francis Pickar and Katherine Reinke.
