Gale M Weissinger

Gale Michael Weissinger, age 60 of Durand, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.

Gale was born July 6, 1949 in Durand, he was the son of Walter and Marian (Forster) Weissinger. He grew up in the Lima area and graduated from Durand High School in 1967. He attended Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Clare for one year. He was in the Army Reserves for six years. Gale married Victoria Strand on October 3, 1970 at St. Mary’s in Durand. After marriage, they lived in the City of Durand the rest of his life. Gale worked for Polzer’s Bus Services and spent over 35 years working for the Durand Co-op. He retired in 2006 due to ill health.

Gale was a member of the Durand Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years and was Firefighter of the Year in 1984. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish, a member of the Knights of Columbus and he was also on the zoning committee for the City of Durand. Gale enjoyed fishing, taking care of his lawn, playing cards, being with his grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.

Gale is survived by his wife of 39 years, Vicky, one daughter, Chelsa (Martin) Wayne, one son, Trevor (Brooke Lieffring) Weissinger, both of Durand, three granddaughters, Emma, Isabella and Elizabeth Wayne, two sisters, Rosetta (Delano) Sinz and Judy (Randy) Norrish both of Durand, one sister-in-law, Darlene (Melvin) Manock of Fairmont, ND, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Brock, two brothers, Ronald and Wayne Weissinger and one daughter-in-law, Christina Weissinger.
