Duane J Juliot
Duane J. Juliot, age 77 of Pepin, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Wabasha, MN.
Duane was born on July 15, 1932 in Lake City, MN. He was the son William F. and Lydia (Hedberg) Juliot. Duane lived with his family in Lake City until the age of 12 when he moved with his family to a farm in the Lund area. He graduated from Pepin High School in 1950. Duane married Lois Ann Johnson on July 25, 1959 in Stockholm. After marriage they moved to Longview, TX where he attended R.G. LeTourneau Christian Technical School. Duane and Lois Ann moved back to Pepin in 1966 to the house where they have resided ever since. He worked for various farm implements in the area before working for Walt Gilles Insurance for several years and then became an independent insurance salesman. Duane was also a Volunteer EMT for the Pepin Area Ambulance Service for 22 years.
Duane loved to tinker with ideas. He was a great storyteller. Duane and Lois had many little excursions around the Lake Pepin area and loved to watch the sky divers in Baldwin. He enjoyed over 12 flights on Mayo One Helicopter with the ride along program for EMTS. Duane had his own “Eagles Nest” on his property where he loved watching the eagles soar and other wildlife that passed by.
Duane is survived by his wife of 50 years Lois Ann, one daughter, Joy (Sami) Shehab of Dallas, TX, three sons, David (Ann) of Wausau, Jon (Tina) of Eau Claire and Joel of Dallas, TX, six grandchildren, Rema, Samantha, Jacob, Megan, Carson, Shannah, three brothers, Virgil (Marilyn) Juliot of Geneseo, IL, Howard (Twylah) Juliot of Eau Claire and Norman (Bonnie) Juliot of Minneapolis, one sister, Marcella “Sally” Steffan of Bemidji, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Steven Paul Juliot.
