Anna L Pelke Fedie

Anna L. Pelke Fedie, age 95 of Durand, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood, where she has been a resident since July of 2005.

Anna was born on June 13, 1914 in the Town of Lima, rural Durand. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Burger) Risler. Anna attended Lima schools through the eighth grade. She married Norbert Pelke in September 1, 1942 in Lima. After marriage they lived on a farm south of Durand where they lived most of their lives. Anna also worked at the Durand Canning Factory for many years. Norbert died in 1980. On April 1, 1989, Anna married Albert Fedie and he later died in 1999. One of Anna’s greatest accomplishments in life was before she turned 70; she passed her driving license test so she could finally drive a car.

Anna loved to work in her garden and bake goods in her kitchen, pies were her specialty! She was a hard worker. They went up north and Anna did lots of berry picking and fishing with her brother, Joe Risler.

Anna is survived by her four sons, Glen (Jane) of Mondovi, Lyle (Janet) of Colfax, Jerry (Marlene) and Herb (Rose), both of Durand, one daughter, Darlene (Ted) Joas of Eau Claire, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, two sisters, Gertie Whiteside of Colorado and Helen Beaton Johnson of Eau Claire, two sisters-in-law, Arlene Risler of Alma and Jo Anne Risler of Florida, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Norbert Pelke (1980) and Albert Fedie (1999), four sisters, Mary Hoyt, Julia Poeschel, Sophie Noll and Agnes Wittig and five brothers, Bill Risler, Paul Risler, Joe Risler, Phil Risler and Richard Risler.
