Gerald M Sundstrom

Gerald M.Sundstrom, age 69 of Durand, passed on suddenly December 26, 2009 in Durand.

Jerry was born on July 27, 1940 in Superior. He was the son of Martin and Florence (Hultner) Sundstrom. Jerry grew up in Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1958. He attended UW Eau Claire and received a degree in business and math and he went on to become a Certified Public Account. Jerry married Karen Castleberg on December 28, 1963 in Durand. After marriage Jerry worked as a CPA for 16 years before opening his own CPA practice, Sundstrom & Company, Inc. in Durand, where he continued to work. Jerry loved working with his clients and solving problems. He was one of the founders and organizer of Country Jam USA, Inc. until his retirement in 2008. Jerry was also on the Board of Directors for the Security Financial Bank from 1991 to present. He had been a member of the Wisconsin National Guard, he served on the Durand School Board for seven years, and he was a member of the Durand Lions Club and Faith Lutheran Church Treasurer.

Jerry loved his family, friends and the great outdoors, with a special passion for fishing. Jerry’s integrity, faith in life, love and family has been an inspiration to all he touched. Nothing loved is ever lost, and Jerry was loved by many.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen, one son, John (Farrah Keanaaina) Sundstrom of Aspen, CO, one daughter Stacy (Edward Albrecht III) Sundstrom of North St. Paul, MN, one sister-in-law, Marcia (Art) Christenson of Somerset, two brothers-in-law, Christy (Sheila) Castleberg of Durand and Bill Smith of Eau Claire, seven nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard Sundstrom, one sister, Barbara Sundstrom and one sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Smith.
