Peter J. Johnson age 56 of Boyceville, died Wednesday January 13, 2010 at his home with his family after battling Pancreatic Cancer for the past five months.
Pete was born June 7, 1953 in Eau Claire. He was the son of Dale & Beverly (Dahl) Johnson and grew up in Colfax, graduating from Colfax High School in 1971. Pete attended Chippewa Valley Technical College. Pete began working for G.T.E. as a telephone installer & repair technician. Although he never changed companies, the name of the company changed over his 37 years of employment, from G.T.E., to Verizon, to CenturyTel and most recently CenturyLink.
Pete married Lois Schindler January 3, 1976 at Cooks Valley. After marriage they made their home in Silver Lake, Park Falls before returning to this area and making their home in Boyceville in 1979, where they lived and raised their family. Peter enjoyed fishing and taking fishing trips to Canada, downhill skiing, golfing. He was an active member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Boyceville where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Pete was a die hard Packer Fan, supporting them through good and bad times. Peter was known for his good hearted humor which he shared with many over the years.
Pete is survived by his wife, Lois; three children, daughter, Jill (Paul) Drewitz of Faribault, MN; two sons, Eric (Jessica) of Rockford, IL; Nick (Fiancé Amber Phillips) of Bloomington, MN; two grandchildren, Eve Drewitz and Cole Johnson; his parents Dale & Beverly Johnson of Colfax; a brother Chuck of Hawthorne, CA; a sister, Jacki (Greg) Evenson of Moundsview, MN; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
