Marshall W. Hagen age 98 of Menomonie,

Died: Sunday April 11, 2010 at Care Partners Assisted Living in Menomonie.

Marshall was born June 22, 1911 in the Township of Elk Mound, Dunn County. He was the son of Carl and Johanna (Remel) Hagen. Marshall attended and graduated from Elk Mound High School in 1929.

Marshall worked on the farm with his Dad and together they did work for the Kraft State Bank on farms the bank held mortgages on. They did concrete work or building maintenance. Marshall then went to Milwaukee with a friend to look for work. He began working at Wisconsin Motors. Later he worked for Briggs and Stratton, Allis Chalmers, Honeywell and National Presto Industries. During this time, Marshall learned the Tool and Die maker’s trade.

In the early 1960’s, he built a shop in Colfax and did small engine repair and saw sharpening for several years. In 1989 Marshall reunited with a very special lady whom he had met years earlier and they each had gone their separate ways. They ended up getting married. This lady was Mary Murray, the love of his life.

Marshall & Mary lived in Colfax for a few years after marriage and then moved to Menomonie. Together they did some traveling. Marshall enjoyed lapidary, making jewelry from agates he’d cut and polished. In his younger years he enjoyed deer hunting, making several successful trips out west with friends, Ray, Leon, Doc, Frank and Wally. He also liked riding his 1928 Indian Motor Cycle.

Marshall is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, his wife, Mary and Mary’s son, Ronald Fetter.
