Harlan A Radue

Harlan A. Radue age 75, formerly of Rochester, MN, passed away Saturday June 26, 2010 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home followed by a courageous six month battle with cancer. He was deeply loved by so many and was surrounded by his family and friends in life and death. He will be remembered for many things, but especially his rich sense of humor, quick wit, courage, helpfulness, patience, wisdom and warmth.

Harlan was born October 29, 1934 in rural Kenyon Minnesota. He was the son of Boyd and Leona Radue, and grew up in this area prior to moving to Faribault, MN in 1949. Harley married, raised a family and started R & S Sporting Goods in Faribault. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was discharged in 1962. The family relocated to Albert Lea, MN in 1973 to start a new business called Radue Marine. In 1984 Harley moved to Rochester, MN and continued his career in sales, spending winters with his RV friends in Texas. The past three summers, Harley enjoyed working at his daughter and son-in-law’s farm in Elmwood.

Harlan is survived by three children, Vicky Koenig of Lake City, MN; Jay (Linda) Radue of Savage, MN; Shelly (George) Ibach of Minneapolis, MN; three grandchildren, Chad and Nicky Radue and Lucas (Margaret) Koenig; a brother, Donald (Jo Ann) Radue of Kasson, MN; two sisters, Diana (Dick) Brooks of Farmington; Carol (Larry) Quanrud of Shakopee, MN; and his special friend for 20 years, Donna Geerdes of Rochester, MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leo Radue.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, July 1st, 2010 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Elmwood with Father Varkey officiating. A reception will follow at the Elmwood Auditorium
