Donald T LaCosse

Donald “Donny” Thomas LaCosse, 49, of Eau Claire went to be with his Lord & Savior on Tuesday, August 10, 2010.

He was born in Stillwater, MN on March 2, 1961, the son of John & Myrt (Smith) LaCosse. Donny graduated from Baldwin-Woodville High School with the class of 1979 and attended UW Stevens Point. From 1980 to 1984 Donny served his country in the U.S. Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, and in the Wisconsin and Minnesota National Guard from 1984-1993.

As a youth, he enjoyed keeping baseball and hockey statistics “just for fun. “ He played 4-H softball and played hockey beginning at age 7, continuing through high school with the Blackhawk Hockey Association in Baldwin, Wisconsin.

Donny eventually settled in Eau Claire where he lived the remainder of his life. He loved coaching his hockey kids. He coached youth hockey for 17 years in the Chippewa Valley where he touched many young lives. Donny was an avid outdoorsman, where he loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He liked all kinds of music, and liked to create his own playlists to DJ at parties and dances.

He installed satellite dish systems throughout Western Wisconsin for many years. He was a cheerful man who loved people and made friends easily. He enjoyed his church family at Chippewa Valley Church.

He is survived by his parents John and Myrt of Bella Vista, Ark; three sisters, Sherri and Terry Vodinelich of Boyceville, Kathy LaCosse of New Richmond, WI, and Julie and Larry Bauermeister of New Richmond; nephews Ted and Alan Bauermeister, step-nephew Tom Vodinelich, step-niece Theresa Vodinelich, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2010, from 5-8 p.m. at Cornerstone Christian Church, 310 W. Polk Ave., Eau Claire.
