Joan M Achenbach
Joan M. Achenbach, age 55 of Durand, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire after a brief battle with cancer.
Joan was born on June 29, 1955 in Durand. She was the daughter of Patrick and Rosemary (Fedie) Achenbach. Joan grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School in 1973. She then attended UW- Eau Claire and graduated with a degree in education. After school, Joan taught at Holy Rosary School-Lima for several years. Joan also taught in a catholic school located in the Stanley-Boyd School District for 29 years. Joan recently returned to Durand and assumed the Director Position at the Wee Care Day Care Center in Durand.
Joan loved to teach and spend time with children. She also loved to play softball, work at the farm in the summer, golf and read. Most of all, Joan loved to spend time with family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews.
Joan is survived by her mother, Rosemary Achenbach of Durand, two sisters, Mary (Dale) Heck of Durand and Linda (Steve) Otto of Menomonie, three brothers, Patrick Jr. (Paula) of Burnsville, MN, Robert (Donna) of Brookfield and Ed (Chris) of Viroqua, 12 nieces and nephews, Collin, Dylan, Matthew, Jessica, Emily, Julia, Sarah, Marsha, Shawn, Kelsey, Nicole and Allison, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Patrick and infant brother, Joseph.
