Galen J Krings

Galen J. Krings, age 93 of Durand, formerly of Elmwood, died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.

Gale was born on July 2, 1917 in Plum City. He was the son of Tom and Maggie (Hei) Krings. Gale grew up in the Plum City area and graduated from the Plum City High School in 1935. After school, Gale purchased a milk route and hauled in the Arkansaw area. Gale married Bonnie Poquette on November 28, 1940. After marriage, Gale moved the family to Arkansaw and he continued to haul milk. Gale purchased the Exile store in 1955 while continuing to haul milk and sold the store in 1956. In 1958 Gale and his family moved to Elmwood. Gale retired from hauling milk in 1980, after selling his milk route to his nephew, Jeff Krause. He moved to Durand after retirement to be closer to his daughter.

Gale loved to go to the casino, play cards, and travel. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially watching his granddaughter play softball. Gale loved spending time with his wife, Bonnie, who was the love of his life for 58 years.

Gale is survived by his children, Tim (Joanie) Krings of Plano, IL, Tess (Jim) Lechner of Durand and Ty (Sue) Krings of Gordon, ten grandchildren, Kim, Kathie, Julie, Tim Jr., Becky, Jayne, Jeana, Jodi, Reece and Kristy, four step-grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bonnie (1999), one son Terry (1963),a great grandson, Matthew John Kline (1986), three brothers, Vernon, Floyd and Allie, two sisters, Marge Wyandt and Marion Krause.
