Mona Jean Monson age 70 of Plum City died Friday December 17, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Mona was born December 18, 1939 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Damon and Elaine (Green) Redmond, but grew up in Augusta. She graduated from Augusta High School in 1957. After high school she attended Vocational School for a year and began working for Miller, Bradford and Risberg, for approximately three years working in the office. She married Loyal Monson June 17, 1961 in Rolla, MO. After marriage she followed her husband to Germany where he was serving in the U.S Army and spent three years living in Germany. After marriage they moved to South St. Paul where she worked at Farmer’s Union Central Exchange in South St. Paul as a Legal Secretary for five years while her husband was attending veterinary school. They moved to Plum City in 1969 where she remained the rest of her life. Mona worked along side her husband in his veterinary practice doing the secretarial and book work. She was also active in Immanuel Lutheran Church serving in many different capacities. She was one of the founding board members of the Plum City Public Library and served for many years. Mona also served on the T. A. D. Nursing Home Board and continued volunteer work at the Plum City Care Center. For the past 19 years she has worked part time for the Plum City Post Office.

Mona is survive by her husband of 49 ½ years, Loyal; a son Scott (Julie Stewart) Monson of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Pam (Troy) Bellrichard of River Falls; five grandchildren, Rachael, Danny and Carly Monson; Hannah and Sarah Bellrichard; her mother, Elaine “Tootie” Redmond of Augusta; a cousin Craig Vinopal of Augusta; a sister-in-law, Elna (Charley) Hizer of Black River Falls; a brother-in-law, Gaylord (Linda) Monson of Buffalo City and several nieces.

She is preceded in death by her father, Damon and a cousin Chuck Green.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Plum City Public Library
