Audrey E. Hanvelt age 89, of River Falls, formerly of Elmwood,
Died: Sunday January 23, 2011 at The Lutheran Home in River Falls.
Audrey was born December 9, 1921 in the Rock Elm Township of Pierce Co., rural Elmwood. She was the daughter of Clayton and Nettie (Condit) Crain. Audrey grew up in the Rock Elm Community. She attended Corner View School and graduated from Elmwood High School. Audrey attended one year of Nurse’s training in Eau Claire. She married Lyman Hanvelt June 28, 1946 at the Rock Elm United Methodist Church. After marriage they farmed in the Town of Rock where they raised their family. Besides farming and raising her family, Audrey was an active member of the Rock Elm United Methodist Ladies Aid and helped with many of the Rock Elm Ice Cream Socials. She was also an active member of the Crain-Ottman American Legion Post 207 Auxiliary. Audrey also loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables and spending time with family and friends. For the past ten years Audrey has been a resident of The Lutheran Home in River Falls.
Audrey is survived by three sons, Gary (Bonnie) of River Falls; John (Dorothy) of Frederic; James (Dianna) of Pomona MO; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyman in 1990.
