Betty Podoll
Betty Podoll age 78 of Elmwood, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.
Betty was born on March 3, 1932 in Spring Lake Township, Pierce County. She was the daughter of John and Esther (Riztman) Britton. She attended Reed School and graduated from Elmwood High School.
Betty married Lavern “Pete” Podoll on May 16, 1950 in Elmwood. They resided in Elmwood for the remainder of their years. Together they operated Podoll Electric, servicing the Elmwood area for over 50 years. Betty was Pete’s “right-hand man.” She was very active in the Methodist Church and was committed to her faith. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all.
Betty is survived by three children, Kathryn (Michael) Ransom of Cape Girardeau, MO, Beverly Spires of Albany, GA and Bruce (Carla) Podoll of Spring Valley, six grandchildren, Andrea Hintz, Shannon Hansen, DeLayne Trulen, Leyla Cox, Leslie Falkner and Jon Podoll, 11 great grandchildren, two sisters, Naoma Alms of Brea, CA, and Janet (Jerry) Simsonson of Menomonie, WI, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pete, half brother, Neil Britton, half sister, Marjorie Malean and an infant brother.
