Helen P. Weaver, age 91 of Menomonie, passed away peacefully on Monday March 28, 2011 at Our House Assisted Living in Menomonie.

Helen was born on September 8, 1919, in the Town of Menomonie to Albert and Elizabeth (Schrader) Ponto. She married Harold Weaver on May 20, 1942 in Menomonie, WI at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Helen and Harold were married for 32 wonderful years until Harold’s death. To this union of marriage was born two children, Karen and Susan. Her family meant the world to her and she was always there to help whenever needed. She was a lifelong resident of Menomonie. She started working at Jaeger’s bakery when bread was just .06 a loaf. She was one of the first people to work at the Dunn County Reminder and used to fold the papers in the basement of a home. From there, she worked at three grocery stores that included the National T Grocery Store, Lammer’s, and Don’s SuperValu. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a member of the VFW Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed her family and loved playing Bingo and cards.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all of Helen's caregivers at Our House in Menomonie. You made her time with you a wonderful experience of not only caring, but also new friends. God bless you all!

Helen is survived by her daughters, Karen (Jim) Vaver of Menomonie and Susan (Paul) Lemke of La Quinta, CA; three grandsons Scot (Pam) Vaver of Eau Claire, WI, Brian (Anne) Vaver of Eau Claire, WI, and Ted (Joely) Lemke of Terre Haute, IN; and one granddaughter Jill (Kevin) Connolly, Atlanta, GA; six great granddaughters and a great grandson; one sister, Adeline Kothlow, Menomonie; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold in 1974; five brothers, Gilbert, Gerhardt, Lawrence, Donald and David (infant); and five sisters, Gertrude Klingenberg, Agnes Hagen, Dorothe Ponto, Vera Chaffee and Rachel Suckow.
