Eugene O Dahl
Eugene O. “Gene” Dahl age 82 of Altoona, formerly of Rock Falls, died Thursday, April 21, 2011 at his home in Altoona with family by his side.
Gene was born on March 7, 1929 in Rock Falls. He was the son of Peter and Emma (Stone) Dahl. He grew up in the Rock Falls area and graduated from Durand High School in 1946. Gene married Doris Ness on June 3, 1951 in Mondovi. After marriage, they farmed in Rock Falls until 1968. In 1968, Gene moved his family to Rhinelander where he worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Doris passed away on February 1, 1990. Gene met Marilyn Ives in 1992 and after retiring in 1994 they moved to Colorado Springs for several years before moving back to the Eau Claire area.
Gene enjoyed traveling the country, playing cards and going to the casino. Most of all, he loved to spend time with family and friends.
Gene is survived by his special friend, Marilyn Ives of Altoona, one son, Steven (Kathy) Dahl of Rock Falls and their children, Kate (Sam) Welch and Angie (Chris) Bahl, three daughters, Kathy Dahl of Altoona and her children, Sarah (Brandon) Dahl-Klement Gina (Rob Carlson) Dahl and Amy (Sean) Branson; Karen Dahl and her children, Elysia Dahl and Eli Monty; Mary Beth (Daryl) Baumgartner of Cologne, MN and their children, Joe Baumgartner and Libby Baumgartner, one great granddaughter, Stella Welch, two sisters, Bev (Dale) Johnson of Colfax and Carol Johnson of Mondovi, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris, one sister, Betty Borman, one nephew, Peter Johnson and one niece, Sandy Sundt.
