Dr. James J "Jim" Fisher

Dr. James J. “Jim” Fisher, age 70 of Arkansaw, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Jim was born on April 28, 1941 in Plum City. He was the son of Walter and Catherine (Black) Fisher. Jim grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School in 1959. After high school, Jim entered into the U.S. Navy for four years until he was honorably discharged. Jim then went to college and earned a degree at UW-Stout in Menomonie and later his Masters Degree at UW-Eau Claire. He then went to Arizona State in Tempe, AZ to earn a doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration and went on to teach at several universities as well as a large secondary school system near Chicago. He was married to Shari Pecore and later divorced. For the last several years, Jim has lived in the Durand area. Jim enjoyed playing cards, going to bingo and traveling.

Jim is survived by his son, Kirk (Kathy) of Cummings, GA, one daughter Kim Fisher of California, two grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley of Cummings, GA, one brother Bob (Mary Ellen) of Rice Lake, three sisters, JoAnn (Bob) Manor, and Betty (Conrad) Catt, both of Maiden Rock and Suzanne (Leroy “Butch“) Weber of Lodi, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
