John T Harmon

John T. Harmon age 71 of Eau Galle died Saturday October 1, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.

John was born in the house he currently lives in, in the Township of Eau Galle on November 29, 1939. He was the son of John P. and Margaret (Van Allen) Harmon. John grew up in Eau Galle and graduated from Durand High School in 1957. From 1959 to 1962 John served in the U.S Army and served a year and a half in Germany. In 1960 John married Marcia Meixner on December 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Durand. After the service he returned to Eau Galle where he began helping his father with the Harmon Chicken Dinners. John and his father served the Harmon Chicken Dinners in Hastings, Red Wing & Wabasha, MN, Eau Claire, Rice Lake, Ellsworth, Alma, Pepin, Durand, Menomonie and Eau Galle, WI. John also started his own ornamental iron and welding business and also did farming. In the early 1980s John took over from the Harmon Chicken Dinners. Currently the John Harmon Chicken Dinners are served in Durand, Menomonie and Eau Galle. John's family and friends continue to help run the chicken dinners which are now in their fourth generation.

John was an active member of the Eau Galle Sportsman Club. He was a 40 year member of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress and served as a Delegate for Dunn County. John loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, as well as spending time at his cabin near Barnes. He had many interests which included cheering for the Packers and Badgers, watching NASCAR, making beer and wine but mostly John loved to spend time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Marcia; five children, Maria (Tim) Nagel of Brodhead; John C. and Paul both Eau Galle; Theresa Harmon of Eau Galle; Amy Harmon of Valladolid Spain; two grandchildren Sarah & Rachel Nagel of Brodhead; a sister, Barbara (Michael F.)Weber of Elmwood, one aunt Ruth Harmon of Burnsville, MN, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
